Application
The new Bowell EFGCH+H70 flail mowers now come with the Bowell Power Efficiency technology. If your tractor supports 1000rpm PTO speed in addition to the standard 540rpm speed, you can use your new Bowell EFGCH+H70 flail mower also with the highspeed option. Just swap the two pulleys from the belt drive against each other and you can reach same mowing performance with higher efficiency and less fuel consumption. Save fuel with the new Bowell Power Efficiency technology at no extra cost from the first meter.
EFGCH+H70 flail mowers can be used efficiently on medium sized areas with many obstacles with a grass height of up to 75cm, which need mowing twice or three times a year.
Branches and even small bushes with a diameter of up to 25mm are shredded by the EFGCH flail mower. EFGCH mowers are true allround flail mowers for tractors up to 60hp engine power. They can be used for light duty jobs such as frequent mowing of horse paddocks but are also capable of heavy duty work and they are extremely price attractive flail mowers.
Technology
The heavy ball-bearing mounted self cleaning rear roller can be set to different mowing heights from 20 to 75mm. The mower´s height adjustable side skids avoid that the flail hammers can touch the ground even in rough environment. Starting from model year 2020 we are using solid stainless steel grease nipples. An additional support leg on the front of the housing improves storage stability. A CE approved PTO shaft comes with the shipment and can be used for an 80cm to 110cm connection length but can be shortened according to your demands.
The practical 500mm hydraulic side-shift systgem not only saves manoeuvring in narrow corners but also makes mowing underneath fences or arround trees a lot faster and easier. This function requires one double-acting hydraulic control valve on your tractor.
SKF ball bearing with performance rotor
Underneath the solid 4mm mower housing the laser balanced rotor shaft is equipped with 18 to 28 of our forged and galvanized 800 g performance flail hammers. The flails have a sloped inner surface so that debris will not easily stick to them. Starting from model year 2020 all EFGCH flail mowers come with SKF ball-bearings, sitting in massive CNC-made bearing seats. The new stainless steel grease nipples are easily accessible from outside the mower housing and are protected against dirt and damage.The mower´s rotor shaft driven by the tractor´s PTO shaft turns with up to 2200rpm and shreds material to a minimum size to let it rot fast. The heavy ball-bearing mounted rear roller offers smooth operation. A further improved, spiral arrangement of the flails on the rotor shaft guarantees maximum performance with minimum effort for the tractor.
New drive system with 4 belts
Like all other Bowell mowers the EFGCH flail mowers have an electronically balance rotor shaft, which is driven by three or four 17mm belts, depending on the working width.
Starting from 175cm working width a 4-belt drive system is used with forged pulleys. Despite the high flail hammer weight this guarantees an almost 100% power transfer rate with virtually no belt slippage.
The new belt cover offers a unique feature in this mower class that lets you check belt tension without having to remove the belt cover. This makes maintenance a lot easier.

How does the EFGCH flail mower position behind your tractor ?
The reference point is always the centre of your tractor, i.e. where the PTO output is.Let us assume that your tractor is 98c m wide from its centre to the right outer edge of the tyre (i.e. 196 cm total width), then the mulcher should extend more than these 98 cm to the right from the centre of the tractor. This allows the mulcher to mow to the right of the right rear wheel. This would allow you to keep some distance to e.g. a fence, bush, tree or shed with the tractor and still mow flush.
The three-point linkage can be moved hydraulically on this model. At the respective shifting end points, the values A1, B1 etc. and A2, B2 etc. are obtained as shown below.
If the mulcher is to extend more than 98 cm from the centre of the tractor to the right in the example chosen here, the EFGCH-135 would be too narrow (A1 = 965mm), even if it were to be shifted fully to the right in the direction of travel. The EFGCH-155 pushed all the way to the right (A1 = 1165 mm) would be able to mow about 18 cm and the EFGCH-175 (A1 = 1365 mm) even about 38 cm to the right of the right rear wheel. The maximum value for this series would then be reached with the EFGCH-195 at 58 cm, provided your tractor has enough power.
