Bowell EF series flail mowers are ideal for regular maintenance of orchards, horse paddocks and fruit meadows with a grass height of less than 45cm. With available working widths from 115 cm to 155 cm EF flail mowers can be perfectly adjusted to your tractor and the job that needs to be done. The 3-point-hitch can be mounted in two different locations on the mower housing so that you can perfectly adjust the mower´s position behind your tractor. At the end of this page you can find detailed drawings to show you the exact position of the mower in relation to the center of your tractor.
Performance Rotor shaft with forged flail hammers
In contrast to other flail mowers in the market we are using between 20 and 28 of our 400 g forged flail hammers depending on the mower´s working width, which ensure a perfect mowing result, even when you are facing light undergrowth and small bushes with branches of up to 20mm in diameter. A further improved, spiral arrangement of the flails on the rotor shaft guarantees maximum performance with minimum effort for the tractor.
The heavy and self-cleaning rear roller is ball bearing mounted and is used to set the mowing height of the flail mower. Together with the side rails the rear roller makes sure that the rotor shaft of the mower does not tough the ground during operation.
The powerful and replacable counter knives - already known from the Bowell medium and heavy duty flail mower series - are now also mounted on the light duty EF series and offer a much better shredding of the material compared to other light duty mowers in the market. The factory installed free-wheel transmission lets the rotor shaft continue to turn once the PTO shaft is switched off, so that its movements will not be transfered to the tractor. The mower´s front is equipped with metal safety flaps to prevent debris and stones being thrown out of the machine.
All EF flail mowers come with solid stainless steel grease nipples and in addition to the height adjustable side skids they also come with a front support leg and a PTO shaft holder for safe storage conditions. The PTO shaft is included in the accessory at no extra cost like on all other Bowell flail mowers.
The detailed multi lingual user manuals contains assembly, service and safety information for your Bowell flail mower.
Flail mower is delivered completely assembled in a wood box
Bowell EF mowers are delivered completely assembled in a massive wood box. Just the Cat I 3-point hitch (Cat II bushings are optional) and the PTO safety cover has to be mounted. Our multi lingual user manual with many drawings and fotos helps to finish this in no time.
Like all other Bowell mowers also the EF flail mowers come with an electronical balanced rotor shaft, driven by two or three 17mm wide drive belts. The special gear oil for the transmission is included in the shipment and needs to be filled up before using the mower for the first time.
SKF ball bearing
Underneath the heavy 4 mm steel housing of the EF flail mowers a laser balanced rotor shaft is mounted, with 20 to 28 of our specially forged 400 g flail hammers. The new premium rotor shaft SKF ball bearings are sitting well protected in their massive bearing seats and are lubricated through stainless steel grease nipples on the outside of the mower housing. The flail mower´s rotor shaft - driven by the tractor´s PTO shaft - is turning up to 2000rpm and shreds the grass down to a minimum, so that it can rot in shortest possible time. The heavy, ball bearing mounted rear roller guarantees a smooth performance even in rough terrain.
The Bowell 3-belt-power system
Starting from 115cm working width we are using 20, 24 or 28 flail hammers and the Bowell 3-belt drive system with hardened pulleys and quality drive belts with 17mm width. Despite the high hammer weight this ensures an almost 100% power transmission with hardly any belt slippage. Other flaill mowers use less or slimmer belts.
Too few or too narrow belts are the major reason for slipping and worn-out belts. The Bowell 3-belt drive system eliminates these problems and therefore allows the use of flail hammers for a perfect mowing result. Another new feature in this mower category is the belt-tension check window in the belt cover. This allows you to test the correct belt tension without having to remove the belt cover. This makes service and support a lot more convenient.
