Technology of the Bowell HAX boom mower / verge mower

Depending on the working width, the hydraulic mowing heads for the Bowell HAX outrigger mulcher are equipped with 12 to 24 hardened Bowell high-performance Y-blades, which can be used in both directions of rotation and ensure optimum mowing results even with stubborn undergrowth and bushes. You can also select the direction of rotation of the mulcher on the convenient radio remote control, which can be a decisive advantage, especially in dense undergrowth and heavily matted areas.








The head angle of the hydraulically driven attachment can be adjusted by up to 230° by remote control, allowing you to position the implement at almost any conceivable angle to achieve the best possible work results.









 The tractor drives a transmission gear via the supplied PTO shaft, which is connected to a specially developed double hydraulic pump. This ensures a particularly smooth separate drive of the implement and the hydraulic cylinders of the arm.







The hydraulic telescopic arm of the Bowell HAX boom mulcher can be extended to a reach of up to 570 cm. We only use flexible hydraulic lines on the swivel joints of the telescopic arm, as the solid support arms of the boom mulcher are otherwise only fitted with fixed steel lines that are not subject to any wear. The heavy flail shaft of the mower head can overrun after the PTO drive is switched off. This is ensured by special hydraulic safety valves which also become active if the rotor shaft blocks. The stone guard metal discs fitted to the front of the flail mower prevent stones and other foreign objects from flying around. The Bowell HAX flail mowers have a tractor-independent, very powerful hydraulic system with an 80 litre tank and an oil cooler, which ensures that continuous operation is possible without any problems.

All hydraulic functions are controlled via a splash-proof radio remote control, which enables very convenient operation and a comfortable working position on the tractor.

 

SKF ball bearings  

A laser-balanced rotor shaft mounted in SKF ball bearings with 12 to 24 hardened high-performance flails, each weighing 800 g, is located under the solid 4 mm thick sheet steel cover of the hydraulic cutterheads. The flails are shaped so that they can work in both directions, as the direction of rotation of the rotor shaft can be changed, making the mulching head highly efficient for any type of application.

Driven by the tractor's PTO shaft, the mower's rotor shaft rotates at up to 2100 rpm and shreds the clippings to a minimum so that they can decompose quickly. The heavy, ball-bearing mounted trailing roller guarantees smooth running so that the mowing head willingly follows the contours of the terrain.

The mowers are supplied fully assembled in the solid Bowell wooden crates. Only the attachment (e.g. mulcher, hedge trimmer, branch saw etc.) needs to be attached to the telescopic arm and a technical inspection carried out.
