The new Bowell BCRMx mower is a side mulcher specially developed for small and medium-sized tractors with the additional feature of reliably shredding branches and dead wood up to 50 mm in diameter. With an available working width of 155 or 175 cm and the hydraulic swivel arm, the professional side mulchers can be used almost anywhere, as the mower can be operated in a position from +90° to -60°. The 1500gr flails, already familiar from the Bowell MFZ/MXZ series, transform the BCRM embankment mulcher into the extremely versatile BCRMx side mulcher, which can reliably remove even very stubborn bushes.
The maximum reach of the mower is up to 2.40 metres from the centre of the tractor to the right, depending on the model. In conjunction with a suitable tractor, the Bowell BCRMx side mowers can also cope with heavy vegetation and enable high work efficiency. The Bowell BCRMx embankment mulchers can also thoroughly shred coarser branches. Typical areas of application in Northern Europe are orchards and vineyards, as well as olive groves in Southern Europe.
The metal tines of the Bowell BCRMx can be removed for normal mulching work, but ensure that the branches remain in the mulcher until they are small enough to fit through the tines when there is a lot of dead wood and branches in the grass. This reliable shredding means that the wood rots much faster than with conventional mulchers.
In addition to the flexible adjustment of the hydraulic swivel arm to almost any mowing situation, the hydraulics save you the hassle of manoeuvring in narrow bends. To operate the hydraulics, you need 2 double-acting hydraulic connections on your tractor.
Optional 540 / 1000 U/min PTO shaft speed
The Comer transmission can be operated at both 540 and 1000 rpm PTO shaft speed. Bowell BCRM side mulchers are equipped with Bowell Power Efficiency technology on the transmission side ex works. If your tractor supports 1000 rpm PTO speed in addition to the normal 540 rpm, you can also use the mulcher at this increased speed if you order the optional 1000 rpm pulley set. All you need to do is replace the factory-fitted pulleys with the new high rpm set and you will achieve a more efficient working performance with lower fuel consumption. Bowell Power Efficiency technology saves fuel from the very first metre.
Side mulcher with mechanical collision protection
The Bowell BCRMx series is equipped with a collision guard that allows the embankment mulcher to swivel backwards if the side mulcher hits a solid object. This additional swivelling to the rear gives the driver the opportunity to brake in good time before damage occurs to the machine.
Performance-rotor shaft with forged 1500gr flail hammers
In contrast to other machines in the market, Bowell is using between 12 to 14 forged flail hammers (depending on working width) - each with a weight of 1500gr - that ensure a perfect mowing result, even when you are facing undergrowth, small bushes and branches up to 50mm in diameter. The newly developed and easily replaceable counter knives inside the mower help to shred the crop in the shortest possible time. A further improved, spiral-shaped arrangement of the flails on the rotor shaft guarantees maximum performance with minimum effort for the tractor.
The mowing height is adjusted by the heavy self cleaning rear roller to prevent the mower from cutting into the ground on bumpy surface.
The heavy, ball-bearing mounted trailing roller ensures smooth running even on uneven ground and is also responsible for adjusting the mowing height. The large Comer freewheel gearbox ensures that the heavy flail shaft can run after the PTO drive is switched off without the movement being transferred to the tractor. Stone guard metal slats fitted to the front of the side mulcher prevent stones and other foreign objects from flying around.
BCRMx side mulchers are equipped with solid stainless steel grease nipples at the relevant points and have two adjustable parking supports in addition to the skids. The 150 cm long PTO shaft is included with all devices. The service plan in the English operating instructions does not leave you guessing and makes it easy to maintain and care for your Bowell mower.
The mower comes completely assembled in the solid Bowell wooden boxes. Only the 3-point hitch, the pre-assembled swivel arm and the PTO guard still need to be fitted, which can be done in about 40 minutes. There are easy-to-understand instructions for this assembly.
SKF ball bearings
Like all Bowell mowers, the Bowell BCRMx series is equipped with SKF ball bearings on the electronically fine-balanced flail shaft, which is driven by three or four 17 mm wide V-belts. Despite the high roller and blade weight, this guarantees almost 100% power transmission with a barely measurable loss of power and minimal wear.
The new Bowell belt cover allows the belt tension to be checked without having to remove the cover. This makes service and maintenance considerably easier. The heavy freewheel transmission from the Italian manufacturer Comer runs in an oil bath, so the enclosed transmission oil must be topped up before commissioning.
Under the heavy, solid cover made of 4 mm thick sheet steel is a laser-balanced blade roller with 16 to 18 hardened and galvanised high-performance flails, each weighing 1500 g, which can be replaced and reground individually.
The rotor shaft rotates at up to 2200 rpm, driven by the tractor's PTO shaft, and shreds the clippings and branches to a minimum so that they can rot quickly. The heavy and large trailing roller guarantees smooth running.
