The Bowell BCRL verge flail mower series is equipped with our most professional transmission making it the perfect choice for this embankment mower for small and medium tractors. These professional mowers come with working widths of up to 165cm and a hydraulic swivel arm for maximum flexibility and a mowing range angle from -40° to +90°. The maximum reach of the mower is up to 220cm from the middle of tractor to the right, depending on the mower model. In combination with the right tractor BCRL-mowers are superior to almost any vegetation and can still offer high work efficiency.
The hydraulic swivel arm not only allows mowing into almost any position, but it also saves manoeuvring in narrow corners when you use the BCRL as regular flail mower. Your tractor needs 2 double acting hydraulic control circuits in order to fully operate the swivel arm.
Mechanical crash protection system
The Bowell BCRL series now includes a crash protection system, which lets the mower swing out to the back, in case you hit a solid piece of material. This additonal swivelling feature gives the tractor driver the opportunity to brake in time, before serious damage is done to the mower. Bowell offers this safety feature exclusively in this product and price category.
Performance Rotor shaft with forged flail hammers
In contrast to other flail mowers in the market we are using between 20 and 28 of our 400 g forged flail hammers depending on the mower´s working width, which ensure a perfect mowing result, even when you are facing light undergrowth and small bushes with branches of up to 20mm in diameter. The new counter knives help to cut even higher grass in seconds. A further improved, spiral arrangement of the flails on the rotor shaft guarantees maximum performance with minimum effort for the tractor.
The heavy self cleaning rear roller prevents the mower from cutting into the ground on bumpy surface.
The professional free-wheel transmission lets the knife shaft turn, once the PTO is switched off, so that its movement will not be transferred to the tractor. The mower´s front is equipped with safety flaps to prevent debris and stones being thrown out of the machine.
All BCRL verge mowers have easily accessible stainless steel grease nipples for easy service and height adjustable skids and support legs for storage. The 1500mm PTO shaft is part of the accessory for all BCRL-flail mowers. The short and easy service plan in the user manual helps you on maintenance and service.
The completely assembled machine is delivered in the massive Bowell wooden case. Just the 3-point hitch, the hydraulic swivel arm and the PTO shaft protector have to be assembled, taking you less than 45min. We offer an assembly guide with photos to assist you.
SKF ball bearings
Like all other Bowell mowers, the BCRL series has an electronically balanced knife shaft which is driven by 17mm wide belts. From model year 2020 BCRL verge mowers are using SKD ball bearings in massive bearing seats on the rotor shaft. Despite the high knife weight of 400gr each and the high number of knifes the Bowell 3-belt system guarantees an almost 100% power transfer rate without belt problems. The heavy free-wheel gear box runs in an oil bath, so the included transmission oil has to be filled in before you first use the machine.
Underneath the massive 4mm steel housing sits the massive laser balanced knife shaft with 20 to 28 high performance, forged and galvanized hammer shaped knifes, each with a weight of 400gr. The knifes are made of forged steel and can be individually exchanged and regrinded. Powered by the PTO shaft, the rotor shafts turns with an amazing 2000 rpm and cuts the material down to a minimum, so that it can rot away fast. The heavy roller in the back of the mower guarantees smooth performance even on rough grounds.
