Application area of the mower
The new Bowell SM-250 rotary mowers are equipped with an additional 70 cm diameter fence mower. This allows you to mow quickly and easily around fence posts, tree trunks, traffic signs or other obstacles without the hassle of manoeuvring. Sickle bar mowers are the ideal solution to enable a relatively large working width of 250 cm with a comparatively small tractor with low power for the Bowell SM-250. The maximum possible grass height that can be worked is around 60 to 70cm, whereby the area should also be free of small bushes, as sickle bar mowers cannot cut these. Meadows that are regularly maintained are the ideal area of application for a sickle bar mower.
Technology of the SM-250 finishing mower
The Bowell SM-250 sickle mower is equipped with three sickles, each with two 180 mm long blades rotating at 2660 rpm. An additional 70cm diameter mower with two more of the hardened blades is located on a movable side arm. This additional fence mower can avoid any obstacles and swings back again immediately thanks to an adjustable spring. You can mow around tree trunks, fence posts or traffic signs in a single pass without the hassle of manoeuvring. The belt drive of the Bowell SM-250 sickle bar mower is quickly accessible through practical maintenance flaps to check and adjust the belt tension. The grease nipples on the idler pulleys are also easily accessible, which simplifies maintenance work.
The cutting height can be adjusted between 30 and 70 mm on the heavy, ball-bearing mounted rear roller, which also ensures that the sickle bar mower runs smoothly on a lawn.
The reinforced PTO gearbox on the mower is driven at 540 rpm via the supplied PTO shaft and drives the sickle mower's three toothed belts. The solid mulcher weighs around 300 kg when ready for use and has a powder-coated housing with a material thickness of 4 mm. Depending on the height of the grass, a working capacity of 0.75 to 1.2 ha/h is possible.
The solid front support wheels make it easier to guide the sickle mower and set the desired mowing height.
The comprehensive operating instructions explain the assembly, commissioning and maintenance of the mowers in detail and also provide you with exploded views of the structure of the rotary mowers.
The Bowell SM-250 mower comes fully assembled in the solid Bowell wooden crates. Only the front support wheels, the 3-point hitch and the additional fence mower still need to be fitted to the Bowell SM-250, which can be done in approx. 60 minutes.
