The foldable Bowell BFX flail mower series is equipped with a very powerful double sided transmission made by the italian factory CMR, making it the perfect choice for large tractors with up to 250hp. With available working widths of 480cm or 600cm, Bowell`s professional BFX foldable mowers are designed for large farms with the need for high work efficiancy when cutting grass, crop residues, cornstalks and shredding branches or twigs. In combination with the right tractor BFX-mowers are superior to almost any vegetation and offer the highest work efficiency. The hydraulic folding mechanism will reduce the transport width to 220cm within seconds for easy transport on puiblic roads.
Bowell is using 60 or 80 large high performance forged flail hammers - each with a weight of 1400gr - that ensure a perfect mowing result on grass, undergrowth and bushes up to 30mm diameter. The new counter knifes inside the mower help to even increase the performance to allow mulching even very high grass. The mowing height is adjusted by the heavy self cleaning rear roller, to prevent the mower from cutting into the ground on bumpy surface.
The large CMR free-wheel transmission lets the rotor shaft turn, once the PTO is switched off, so that its movement will not be transferred to the tractor. The mower´s front is equipped with safety flaps to prevent debris and stones being thrown out of the machine.

The double sided CMR gear box supports 1000rpm PTO speed. The Bowell BFX flail mowers are using the Bowell Power Efficiency Technology. Your tractor needs to support 1000rpm PTO speed to acchieve a mowing performance with higher efficiency and less fuel consumption. Bowell BFX-large flail mower with double 5-belt drive system
The new Bowell double 5-belt drive system on the BFX-480 uses 22mm wide drive belts and reinforced pulleys to guaratee an almost 100% power transfer rate with virtually 0% belt slippage even for these large mowers. The Bowell belt cover lets you check the correct belt tension within seconds without having to remove the belt cover and allows belt ventilation to cool down the belts on hot summer days for longer belt life. This makes service and maintenance a lot easier than before.
All BFX-mowers have easily accessible stainless steel grease nipples for easy service and come with height adjustable side skids and support legs for storage. The short and easy service plan in the multi lingual user manual helps you on all operating, maintenance and service issues.The completely assembled machine is delivered in the massive Bowell steel crates.
SKF ball bearing with performance rotor and PowerCut®
The BFX-480/600 mowers come with large SKF rotor shaft ball-bearings sitting in massive CNC-made bearing seats. This is important, because the heavy and extra wide rotor shafts are turning with 2068rpm and cut the material down to a minimum, so that it can rot away fast. The rotor shafts are specially designed. The flail hammers are mounted in a helix order, so despite the wide working width never more than two flails per rotor shaft are actually cutting at the same time. This significantly reduces the needed mowing power.
Double walled housing
For wide and heavy fail mowers, using very high RPM on the rotor shaft, a torsion-resistant and low vibration housing is the precondition for a reliable machine. Next to massive side walls, which are 10mm thick on the Bowell BFX-series, best results are achieved when using double walled housings. The Bowell BFX-mower comes with a 6mm strong outer housing in addition to a 5mm thick inner housing on more than 90% of the housing surface. Both housings are welded and bolted together. This leads to a very smooth operation of this professional implement.
